11 Use Cases (and prompts) for AI in Sales
In Marketing, ChatGPT can tell you you’re brilliant. It’s a pleaser. The best write up on this I’ve seen is from Dave Diamond, who wrote an entire ebook where ChatGPT told him it was great, and then after sleeping on it he realized it was not the case.
“Because ChatGPT doesn’t care if it’s right.
It cares if you’re happy. It’s not intelligence.
It’s a prediction engine trained to please.
However, in sales, because the data and processes are a bit more concrete, more quantitative, less creative, AI is less of a pleaser. It’s parsing data.
Use cases and Prompts for AI in Sales
Using ChatGPT to analyze connect rates (for cold calling) by day and time.
To do so, export your log data or report from your CRM or Sales automation tool and upload to ChatGPT with the following prompt:Prompt: Analyze my cold call log data to determine the average connect rate (number of calls answered / total calls made) for each day of the week and hour of the day. Calculate the connect rate for each day of the week (e.g., Monday, Tuesday, etc.). Calculate the connect rate for each hour of the day (e.g., 8:00 AM - 8:59 AM, 9:00 AM - 9:59 AM, etc.) Summarize the results with a clear breakdown of the connect rate for each day and hour. Provide insights into any trends you observe, such as peak connect rates on certain days or at certain times.

Prompt: Based on this quarter’s wins and losses, please summarize and identify trends where we win and where we lose. Please advise if there are any commonalities among where we win by company type, industry, acquisition channel, deal type, deal size, or days to close.
Using Lovable to create a workflow to send alert to a rep or a Slack channel every time their prospect engages with a piece of content or your pricing page.

Set up a workflow using n8n to notify Sales or Marketing when a lead comes in or when a specific form is filled out on your website.
Use Perplexity, Claude, or ChatGPT’s Deep Search to do account research (news, industry pain points, hiring trends) to enable personalized sales pitches.
Prompt using ChatGPT Deep Search: Please pull and generate a report about [company name], website: http://www.COMPANYURL.com Give me industry global news in the past 6 months, recent hires within the past 6 months, in [region: e.g. North America, Global, APAC], all industry pain points. Other Sales AI Workflow Automations
Streamline proposal creation by integrating CRM data with document generation tools like PandaDoc or Google Docs. Automatically populate templates with client-specific information.
Automatically suggest meeting slots by integrating Calendly or Google Calendar with email workflows. For example, when a lead responds positively to an email, n8n or Make can trigger a scheduling link to be sent automatically.
Create workflows that send automated follow-up emails or Slack reminders to sales reps if no response is received from a lead within a specified timeframe.
Set up workflows to notify sales managers in real-time via Slack or WhatsApp when large deals are closed or high-value leads are added to the pipeline.
